If you know me, you’d know that I can’t stand when there are blatant errors in spelling, particularly on a restaurant menu or sign. I forgive it a bit more when it’s an ethnic restaurant and English is not their first language but it blows me away that anyone would print a menu or sign without consulting with a native speaker to make sure that everything is accurate.
I am not going to name the place but me and hubby had a very good giggle while sitting down to have a drink in a local, city shopping centre this weekend. I KNOW that the sign is meant to read “ASSORTED ROLLS” but by abbreviating it as “Ass. rolls” (even with the period) is pretty hilarious! Needless to say, they were the least busy counter in the food court.
I didn’t think anything of it to tell you the truth…until you pointed it out. (We don’t spell it like that either) I’ve seen it heaps of times before. I guess the aussie abreviation is ingrained into me haha.
I think the reason no one bought any was because they look old and wilted! 🙂
What did you have for lunch anyway??? 🙂

That’s so funny. Really, you’ve seen it abbreviated like that before? It was both our first time! LOL. Yes, they did look rather sad and wilted. We actually didn’t eat – we wanted to drink a Boost Juice because it was stinking hot that day and that was after I had finished yelling at the woman at H & R Block and I wanted to chill out before moving on.

You know I was watching Ellen (degeneres) on TV on her show the other day and she has a funny photo’s segment and I immediately thought of your ass. rolls picture! I’m sure she would get a laugh out of it, why don’t you send a copy in? 😉

Hey I have a couple of ass rolls……and they really are on my ass! Will have more ass rolls to show you after our Masterclass with your head in a cardboard box and an “m” in a circle printed on the corner (i.e. TV cooking class).
Great blog BTW. I love that you are just as passionate about food (both savoury and sweet) as Keng & I are and take photos of absolutely everything, including asses! 🙂

hahaha!! That’s funny Cheryl. I used to care more about the quality of photos but I just don’t have that time now. Besides, my only SLR is a film one & can’t afford a digital one right now sooo…
