Best NY Cheesecake sounds divine. I haven’t had a good one in years. I’m a fan of decaf coffee too as I’m totally caffeine sensitive (no cups after 4pm or I can’t sleep!)

Would be hard to enjoy a last meal if you knew it was your last. That said, and assuming it’s not the more probable nursing home meal (argh), I would want the best, best, best plain New York cheesecake ever, and a heavy mug (cup) of the best decaf organic coffee with half and half cream. No sushi for me!!

mmmm… there are so many things to choose from. chips and gravy. jiaozi. gnocchi amatriciana. duck noodle soup. tiri saganaki. quail. roast lamb with rosemary. mapo tofu is a really good one.

but honestly, nothing beats a really good bacon sandwich. good, farm cured bacon, grilled with HP sauce on grain bread

Gooch, you CRACK me up! Mapo Tofu – YUMMY! I forgot to add Poke and gyoza to my list and Soon Du Bu Chige. Your “last meal” is all over the place! Chicharrón from Kalihi is soo awesome – especially with Mexican hot sauce! It is too dangerous to get near me as I can devour quite a few of them and they’re not too good for my waistline! haha.

Last meal… hmmm… Mid-rare Bacon Cheeseburger with jack & Neuskes bacon, Steak Fries, Chilaquiles from Primavera (SF,) Dim Sum from Legends, Roast Pork From O`ahu Market, Fried Chiccharon from Kalihi, Ma Po Dofu, Katamein, with extra Cha Siu, Gyoza, Bucatini alla Amatriciana, Caccio a Pepe, Laulau (MY… laulau,) Potagee Bean Soup, Poke, Poi, Steamed Mullet Chinese Style, Fried Mempachi, Kim Chee Chigae, Enchiladas, and a Torta to top it all off.

Dessert??? Hmmm, a pint of Ben & Jerry Vanilla AND Strawberry, plus a half dozen mochi ice cream from Bubbies…

Fabi, your last meal sounds very “Bay Area” – absolutely cosmopolitan and multi-ethnic, I love it!! I have never been to Sushi House in Alameda…in fact, I haven’t been to Alameda in years!

Definitely oysters – four dozen Coffin Bay oysters (South Australia) – natural, of course, a huge platter of Chilli Mud Crab, and a combination chow mein from Ming Court Restraurant in Lower Sandy Bay, Tasmania.
Dessert – not being a sweets person, more oysters!! I would, of course, have to have some red wine – so either a bottle of Curly Flat pinot (Victoria) or a Mr Riggs Tempranillo (South Australia) – or BOTH! (they may not be a perfect match with the food, but they’re great wines!

I am really loving your blog and it’s making me hungry!

My last meal would consist of my two favorite ethnic foods–Italian and Asian, but I would also have crab (Alaskan, dungeness and the blue ones). First, Chinese wontons homemade by my soon-to-be mother-in-law. These consist of pork sausage, shrimp, ginger and other seasonings all wrapped in won ton “skin,” then deep fried and served with homemade sweet and sour dipping sauce (not the bright red stuff). Also, sushi made by Sushi House in Alameda (Lion King roll, Webster roll, etc.). I know it’s not authentic sushi but, there is nothing like it. And for the Italian food, capellini with a simple homemade tomato sauce maybe topped with parmesan cheese. Lastly, for dessert, I would eat anything chocolate.
